There were drastic social and industrial changes during the 19th century but in contrast, jewelry designs during this period reflected history. Archaeological discoveries simulated interests in antiques. The classical styles of ancient Greece and Rome gained much popularity and demand.
There was also an
interest in Naturalistic jewelry in the early years of this period. Growing
interest in Botany and influence of romantic poets such as Woodsworth inspired
jewelry designs as well. Jewelry with flowers and fruits carved on it gained
huge popularity too. Brooches made from assorted flowers were also worn as ornaments.
